Ash Wednesday

Today is Ash Wednesday. We are having a service at Mt. Olive tonight. My choir is singing.

Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent and occurs forty-six days (forty days not counting Sunday) before Easter. It falls on a different date each year, because it is dependent on the date of Easter; it can occur as early as February 4 or as late as March 10.
Ash Wednesday gets its name from the practice of placing ashes on the foreheads of the faithful as a sign of repentance. People at this time fast for their repentance as a sacrifice to God until Easter Sunday. Sundays are not to be days of fasting. I usually give up sweets, chips and sodas but I have already given them up, so I will have to think of something else.

I went to my exercise class a little early today so I could try and walk with some of the ladies, but my hip still bothers me when I walk long ways. I thought the exercising might have turned that around...oh well. Pat didn't go with me today, she was waiting on a delivery.Went to Wal-mart to pick up a few things for dinner. Talked to Stevie this morning, he was at worked but sounded horrible. Talked to Daynon for a few. This was a busy phone morning. Everyone seemed to be calling at the same time on the land line and cell phone.

Worked on a resume' for the US Government and looked at other web sites. Didn't see much out there. Jason called me when he got home from school. He got honor roll for the last six weeks in school.
