Today we had Women's Day at Mt.Olive. The choir was phenomenal today. There was over 40 strong. Daynon's friend Tre Dickerson was at church today. I spoke to him after the service. He lives in DC and was here for the weekend. He told me he got together with my sons and the rest of the fellows to play basketball this weekend. He told me that their friend Al fractured his foot. I laugh and told him that they are all getting old and can't handle the workout anymore. I later heard from Stevie when he was at work, that some others were on the injured list Friday.
Back to church, our speaker today was Rev. Angel White. She was excellent. Her morning message was "I Want My Stuff Back". She spoke about how God has given us things and we take them for granted basically and then when they are taken away, we want our stuff back. We take for granted our jobs, our health, our family and a lot of other things. She referenced the episode of Sanford and Son where Fred donated some records to the library as a tax deduction. But soon he found out, they were valuable. He tried to get them back with no avail so he came up with the scheme to get his friend Bubba go to the library and pretend like he was the son of blind Mellow Jelly. And his persisted to tell the librarian that he wanted his daddy's records back. Well Rev. White talked about the daughters of Zelophehad (see Numbers 27) whose father died in the wilderness. They were not given any of his possessions because the law was the sons inherited whatever belong to their fathers and if there was no sons it went to the brother, uncle and any other man down the line. So the five daughters of Zelophehad went to Moses and told him they wanted their stuff back because there father worked hard for it and it was not their fault they were born girls and not boys. Now this was unusual for people to buck the law so they set a precedent. But you know what, because they were bold in their beliefs, Moses went to the Lord on their behalf and the Lord gave them back what was theirs and set a new law that if there were no sons, daughters would receive the inheritance. Basically what she was saying to us is that we have not because we ask not. If we go boldly to God and tell him what we want our stuff back, he will give it us. Her second sermon was "I Want My Stuff and I want it All". It was a different point of view but basically the message was the same, God has our stuff, all we need to do is ask for it and it shall be giving. She based this sermon on II Kings Chapter 8 about the woman who was sent away for seven years because of a famine. When she got back she wanted all her stuff back. I know what I am asking for, I want a job back...what will you ask for.
After church, I came home to cook dinner. But I was just too exhausted to think about it. I decided to call good ole Dad to see what he cooked up. Well to my luck, he did cook and he had enough for Steve and I. He had fried chicken, cooked string beans, potatoes and rice pudding. Sound good enough for me. We then went over to Dad's to eat. Twine came over while we were there. We watched Bonanza, well they watched Bonanza. I slept most of the time. Did not even hear Twine when he left.
We came home about 8 o'clock and watched the end of Extreme Home Improvement and then Desperate Housewives. I then checked out some job web sites and applied for a couple of jobs and then went to watch Celebrity Apprentice. Can someone please tell me why is Dennis Rodman still on the show. I loved him when he was in the NBA but he is working on my last nerve on this show. I don't understand why he even signed up for the show. He is so lazy.
Anyway, I going to be now. Since my disk space on my computer is declining, I have not been making the videos regarding my weight update. You can check out my side bar and get the updates. There was progress this past week. The fiber is working....LOL.
It is now 11:36 PM....good night to all.
