The King of Pop...Michael Jackson is dead!

Woke up about 6:30 this morning. Watched TV until about 8:30. Got up and made the bed. Steve came home and went out to cut grass with the push mower. I got on the riding mower and cut the back yard. Jason was awake but still in the bed. He came out when we were almost finished. In the shade, there was a nice breeze blowing so it wasn't so bad out. We sat out for awhile and then I went in to fix breakfast. Jason took his bath after breakfast and then Steve and I showered and changed. We went to PO&B and then stopped at Dad's for a few. We then headed to the Room Store.

Let me tell you why we were going to the Room Store. I bought a mattress set there in 2003 and the firmness is just not there. I keep the paper work for everything and I looked at the warranty and there was a 15 year warranty. I called the store, they sent a technician out last week who took a picture of the mattress and said someone would call me this week. They called yesterday and said the mattress had a defect and that I would get a full credit and I could pick out a new mattress set. I went in today, picked out a new set. There was a $50.00 difference I had to pay and I have to bring the old mattress set back when I pick up the new set on next Wednesday. It pays to keep your paper work on everything you buy. Makes life less complicated when there is a problem with the item.

When we left the Room Store, we went to Little Caesars and picked up pizza. Ate and I took a nap. Jason and Steve watched TV. Got Jason and myself ready for Vacation Bible School. While we were getting ready, we heard the news that Michael Jackson had died. That was a shock to me. Michael had a lot of crazy stuff that went on in his life, but he was a Superstar. I remember when I was young, someone called us to say The Jackson Five was on Ed Sullivan. We called everyone in the family to watch it. The boy was phenomenal. You could see the echoes of a star in him then. And then when he went solo...oh my goodness. I remember Steve, the kids and I would sit and watch MTV all day long to see Michael Jackson on there. He was the only black artist they played on MTV at the time. I remember when the Billy Jean, Beat It and the Bad videos came out. And then Thriller..http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AtyJbIOZjS8 ...oh my goodness. We would run to the TV to watch that over and over. The music, the dancers, the mini movie and Vincent Price...he had invented a whole new version of music videos. Michael had a lot of demons going on within him but they should not over shadow that he was a musical genius. He just needed Jesus in his life and a daddy who was not crazy. Michael the world will miss you and only you and God knows what you did or did not do, so it is all in his hands now. You can truly R.I.P now Michael.

Back to my day, Steve went to Dad's while we were at church. When we got back to Dad's, he said Johnny Rigby had called and said Aunt Shelia's car was ready so we took him to Atlee to pick the car up. Mr. Rigby loves to talk, so we were there for a few minutes. Left and followed Dad home and then we came home. We watched TV. I watched the MTV tribute to Michael and then played Scrabble, talked to Stevie via text and email and after writing this blog, I am going to bed.
