Weekend Recap

Friday
Because of a music camp, we have not had exercise class this week. I was feeling full of pep, so I got up at 6:30. Watched TV and did my house work. Went and sat on the patio and drank some green tea and talked with Steve. I had a appointment with the mattress guy from the Room Store. I have a mattress that had a 15 year warranty and it is only 6 years old and has lost it's firmness. He called and said he would be here before 12. It was about 12 when he got here. He took pictures of the mattress and said they would call me next week. Will let you know if they stand by the warranty or be talking out the side of their mouth and reneging. We went to the Post Office and then Dad's. Sat around there and talked for awhile and then went to Uncle Doc's. Daddy had a watermelon plant to put in the garden. I went in the house and talked to Aunt Mary while the guys were outside with Uncle Doc. We stayed up there until about 5:30. Took Daddy home and we came home and caught up on the soaps. Came home and made a cake to take to Tank's. He loves my yellow cake with butter cream frosting. After the cake was done, showered and changed clothes. Went to Stuffy's for subs. They have coupon in the REACH magazine so we always get one free when we go. Y'all know how I be working the coupons. Daddy didn't want one today. We went to his house and watched Don't Forget the Lyrics and then we headed to Wal-Mart to get some Crisco shortening to make the frosting. Went home made the frosting, watched a litte TV and went to bed.

Saturday
Steve got up early and cut grass. I got up about 7:50 and made the bed and touched up around the house and then went outside. Steve and I pumped up the inflatable pool of Jason's to carry to Tank's cookout. It took about 20 minutes or so. I washed the pool up and then Steve put it in the back of the truck and took it to Tank's house who lives around the corner. We went to the Post Office and then to the mall to get Daddy a Father's Day gift. Did not know what to get him. He is funny about his clothes and said he doesn't need any shirts, so I always try to do the tool route. Went to Sears and I got him a grab bag of stuff. Circular saw blades, hack saw blades, 3n1 Oil, engine oil, wife beater T-Shirts and one of those window cleaners they advertise on TV. He always talk about how hard it is to clean the car windows. Hit the Dollar Tree for gift bags and then home to shower and change for the cookout. We got to Tank's about 4. Daddy got there maybe ten minutes after we got there. Let me just say this....IT WAS HOT!!!! We found some shade near the shrubberies and we moved with the shade. Daynon and Lynette came and Stevie and Linda later. All of Stevie and Daynon's posse sat by us, so we were thoroughly entertained with the kids and conversation. The kids at the cookout had a ball with the pool. Tank and Dawna had plenty of food and everything was tasty. Daddy left about 8:45 and we left about thirty minutes after that. Came home and took a shower because I felt like a sticky mess from the heat. Watched the movie The Last Kiss with Zach from Scrubs and then went to bed.

Sunday-------HAPPY FATHER'S DAY
Got up around 6:45 to go to the 8am service. No singing for me today. Got to church and during the middle of Pastor's sermon, I realized that it has always been the tradition to go with Daddy to church on Father's Day. Don't know where my head was this week. It never even crossed my mind that I would go to church with Daddy. I looked at my watch and it was 9:15, I know Daddy usually leaves for church at 9:30. I was sitting in a pew near the front in the middle of all things and I jumped up and rushed out the church and called Daddy and told him I was going home and change clothes right quick to go with him to church. But b/c he was singing today, he had to leave then and could not wait for me. I was so disappointed in myself. But he told me he knew I loved him and we would spend the day together later. Y'all pray for me. My mind was some where else today.

Anyway, I went back in church and went to WAWA to get gas because I knew we were going to Stevie and Linda's for dinner later. They live in Midlothian. I got home and Steve was outside so I changed my clothes and ate breakfast and then sat on the patio talking with him. Our neighbor on the left Herb came over and then our neighbor on the right Mike came over. They sat at the table and talked for awhile. They both went home and then I came in to get my clothes together to wear over Stevie's. Daddy called and I told him we would pick him up at 3. Gave him his gift when we got there. I think he liked it. I can not afford all that he deserves because he is a great Father. We got to Stevie's around 3:30. Linda's parents, Toni and Trina and Linda's sister Tonya were there. Daynon and Lynette also came. Stevie proudly showed us all his new green grass that he has growing now and the plants he and Linda have added to the yard. His yard is coming together slowly but surely. Stevie fried chicken and it was good. He cooked hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill and Linda made potato salad and baked beans. We had pound cake, strawberries with whip cream and there was ice cream too. We sat around and talked. Daynon and Lynette brought there wedding album that is like a library book. It was neat. The pictures were beautiful. After dessert, the kids passed out the Father's Day cards. Daynon and Lynette had a baby guessing game for us to play. They had the ultrasound of the baby and we had to guess what the sex of the baby was. I think the majority said a boy. Daynon handed Steve a gift to open and it was a pink bib saying "I love my Grandpa", so it is a GIRL! YEAH! They think..Baby Smith could be hiding HIS secrets behind fig leaves....LOL. It would be nice to have a girl in sea of maleness around me. We all started heading out around 6:40 to head across the river home. We stopped in at Uncle Doc's. All the kids had just left except Anthony. We sat around talking to them until about 9 and then we took Daddy home and then came home. Watched TV. Did the unemployment thing. Looked at some jobs and now I am going to bed. I have exercise class in the morning.
