When I woke up this morning, it was very dreary outside. It looked like it would rain at any moment. My neighbor across the street was having a yard sale and I just knew they would be running for cover at any moment. The kids of my neighbor down the street had a Estate Sale today but that was inside. I called my Dad about the Estate Sale. We went to the yard sale and talked to the neighbors for a while and then walked down the street to the estate sale. By that time Dad had gotten there. It was about 8:30. They had all kinds of things at the sale. Vernon who died a few years ago, collected all kinds of stuff and so did his wife Jackie. There were all kinds of pictures, guitars, crystals, porcelain barbies, curio cabinets, office furniture, Christmas decor and a bedroom suite I wanted sooooooooooo bad. It was really nice. There price was way too steep for me. They wanted 2ooo.oo for it. I heard it didn't sell either. Vernon even had a slot machine that came off a Chinese cruise ship. I had fun playing with that. They had a whole bunch of coins to use to play it. Didn't sell that either. It's kind of sad getting rid of all your parents things like that. After my Mom died, it came to me, that when Steve and I die, the stuff we hold onto our kids will toss it when we are gone. My mentally after Mom's death is to stop holding on to a lot of stuff you are not going to use and sell it or give it away. Cause that is exactly what Stevie and Daynon are going to do.
Anyway, after the sales, I came home and fixed breakfast. Called Uncle Doc about the sale. Oh yeah, we didn't buy anything but my Dad bought a guitar and amplifier. Uncle Doc pulled up about the time we were finishing breakfast. Went out and talked to him for a few. Came in the house and cleaned up and then we got ready for the church picnic.
Picked up Dad about 11:30 and went to Deep Run Park for Mt. Olive's annual Family and Friends day. By then, the sun had come out and the day was beautiful. We played Guesstures and that was fun and then we ate. They had hula hoop, jump rope and paddle ball contests.
Plenty of food and desserts.
Left there close to four and took Dad home. Came home and took a nap. Stevie and Linda came by and stayed and talked for a few. Called Daynon to see how his paint job went today. He said it went OK. Went to Dad's and then went to Ms. Connor's cookout. She lives in Dad's neighborhood. She has the best cookouts because she puts on a show for you. This year, there was Michael Jackson, and she was Aretha Franklin and Tina Turner and Madame Las Vegas. The theme was Las Vegas and she had a archway dressed in wedding decorations and a sign that said wedding chapel and she came out in a wedding gown. She is hilarious. We had a good time and left about nine after her last performance...LOL.
Came home and watched a little TV and have been on the computer ever since. Bout to go to bed. Have to sing tomorrow. We have only one service at ten tomorrow.
Oh yeah..if you heard on the news about the tool shed bursting into flames and a body was found inside...that was in my neighborhood. Pray for the family. They must be devastated. No one knows exactly what happened yet.
