Today Pastor Thompson's sermon came from Psalm 107:1-3 and he talked about being motivated to give to God. He told a story of how a business man had a big party and invited a lot of people. He filled the swimming pool with sharks and barracudas and other dangerous water creatures. He announced that he would give a brand new house on the mountain, a trip around the world for two and another fabulous prize that I can't remember, to anyone who would jump in the pool and swim to the other side. As soon as he said that, there was a splash in the water. He went to congratulate the man who jumped in and asked him which grand prize he wanted. The man was was out of breath at first, then he told the business man that he wasn't ready to make that decision yet, because he first wanted to know who pushed him in the pool. Sometimes I feel like that man, I am not motivated to do the things I should do because I am waiting for someone to give me that push. There a lot of things in my life, I would not done if someone had not pushed me. Thank God for the pushers. Every year I try to do something that I have not done before in my life no matter how small it is. This year I have not decided what that is going to be but when I decide, I hope there is someone there to push me when I get cold feet.
On the 1st Sunday of February, my choir is singing at the Henrico Theatre on Nine Mile Road. It is for Black History month. If you are out that way, stop in to hear us.
Today was the last day for my father's pastor, Larry Owens, at Bethany Baptist Church in Montpelier. He did a lot for the membership of that church. He will be surely missed.
MY DAY:
Sang at the 8 and 11 am services today. Jason went with me to the 11am service. Came home and cooked dinner and worked on more of my tapes that I am transferring. I have about three more to do now.......YEAH! Thinking about doing this as a side business and make a few dollars...LOL.
Talked to Steve,Jr today. He had told me he was coming over today, but his schedule at work got switched around. He said he will be off Tuesday, so we are going to hang out then.
We were in the car heading to Dad's and Babysis called and said they took my cousin Freda to the Emergency room. She was not feeling well. They were still there when I called about 9pm. Please keep Freda in your prayers.
Got Jason in the tub and we watched the rest of Extreme Makeover Home Edition. Jason had a loose tooth he has been wiggling on for a couple of days and tonight it came out. And then it was
good night for him. Have to take him to school in the morning.
Tomorrow's weigh in is not going to be good. I have had a bad week. I need a push guys.
Just got a call that they are keeping Freda at the hospital. She just needs some antibiotics to get her back on her feet again.
