The situation with our economy is getting very scary. We went to Circuit City today and it is unbelievable they are closing. I remember when we bought our first floor model TV from them when they were Ward's TV. Our retail scenery has changed so much over the years. Businesses have come and gone. Who would have thougth that Miller and Rhoads and Thalhimers and Woolworth's and Murphy's would disappear. The banks are constantly merging and there is no longer a bank in Richmond with an original name that I can think of. Wachovia and Wells Fargo have merged and are changing their name to INTEGRATION. Don't know who came up with that name.
I was informed today that HCA put a freeze on all new hires in December, so things aren't looking too good with the job I was offered. And per my friend Maryann at my former job, they had another round of layoffs there. Unfortunately, a really nice guy named Ernest Pitts was laid off today. He has been with the company 33 years. So you just don't know who it is going to hit next.
MY DAY:
Talked to Daynon this morning, he wasn't feeling good. I think being out in that cold weather on Tuesday in DC did him in.
I exercised at Curves today, but I don't think I will go back. The concept of Curves is good but it is just not my bag. Too much up and down for me. I am going to check out the free exercise class at St. Peter's on Monday. See how that goes.
Looked for jobs online. Ran some errands and then went to Dad's to get our daily dose of Westerns. Dad brought a suit coat and he wanted to change the buttons on it, so I sewed them on and then the three of us went to Circuit City. By the way, 10% is what most of the discounts consist of.
Steve and I went to Applebee's for dinner. My sister-in-law Pat gave us a gift card for Christmas.
Went back to Dad's after dinner. Jason's grandmother came by to drop him off and we watched Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy together.
Watched Howie Do It and then came home after we took the human incinerator (Jason) to McDonald's. I don't know where that boy puts all the food he eats.
Came home and helped Jason down load music to his IPOD. And that was my day.
The weather was beautiful!
