Friday August 7th

I went to my exercise class today..Yeah! We had a small group today. A lot of them are on vacation. I rode to Target after class. Walked around the store and picked up a few things I needed. It was a change of pace from Wal-Mart. When I got home Steve was there washing the truck. He went out back and got the riding mower out so I knew that was my cue. I got on the mower while he pushed the mower in the front yard and did the weed eating. By the time we finished it was about ll:30. I came in and watched some of The Price is Right and fell asleep. Woke up and watched the news at noon. Did you see on the news where the tractor and trailer tire flew off and side swipe a cop standing on the highway with a guy who had a flat. Boy was he lucky. The tire just skimmed him. Watched a little of the Young and the Restless and then did the PO&B run. Go to Dad's late today. It was almost two. He had just taken a pound cake out of the pan he baked and is carrying to his church on Sunday. Part of the bottom of the cake stuck to the pan. He was upset about that but I came in and saved the day and the cake and put the frosting on for him. Dad went outside to blow his drive way and we came outside later.

Dad's neighbor, Sherwood "Pete" Harris told Dad that one of their neighbors and Dad's friend, John Thaniel, had been robbed of some of his lawn tools. So we rode around the street to see John. He was in the yard and to our amazement he told us that he was not the only one that had been robbed. They stole John's saw and blower. Unfortunately, he did not lock his shed that night but they have been cutting the locks off other sheds with bolt cutters. My Dad's neighborhood used to be a nice quiet place but a lot of things have changed now. Fortunately, Dad lives on the corner and has motion lights on his tool sheds so hopefully he won't have any trouble. He did say one day two young guys was standing at his trash can. He spoke to them, they spoke and moved on. I always worry about Dad being out in that yard alone, that is why we go over there a lot in the day and evening time so I feel better about him being out there.

We only stayed at John's for a little bit because he was cutting grass. We dropped Dad at home, went to the Post Office on Parham Road to mail a letter and return a box and came home about three. Steve watched the soaps and I got on the computer. Fixed dinner about five or so and went back over Dad's about seven. Took Daddy a cake carrier so I put the cake in there and went outside and we sat on the patio.
I was looking thru the J.Sargeant Reynolds college courses to see what classes I could take. Nothing jumped out at me. Don't know what I would like to take.

Aunt Mary and Uncle Doc pulled in the yard. Uncle Doc got out but Aunt Mary stayed in the car with the a/c on. It was cold in that car. I got in and she told me to cut the car off and we sat and talked about any and everything. Uncle Doc made a move to leave about nine and I got out the car. We left after they left and came home. We watched TV. Steve went to bed about ten thirty and I stayed up and watched the news until the sports came on and then went to bed. That was my day!
